RE: Liberty for Youth
As my teenage son fought through life in achieving his goals, along the way he became discouraged and confused. It became more difficult for him to function as he continued to go on without needed support. As a mother in another country, I truly could not support my son the way I wanted and needed to. He began to associate with a negative population and made some unforgettable and regrettable mistakes. He knew he wanted to turn his life around but did not know how to. We discussed possible forms of support; however I did not feel comfortable until my son told me about Liberty for Youth. Brother Frederick, the president of Liberty for Youth, traveled once a week from another town to spend time mentoring my son and this eventually became a great length of time. Months went by and I began to notice differences in my son. One was improvement in his speech but the biggest change was with his thinking. As a result, my son had overcome his struggles and was moving passionately toward his future. In 2003, I received the opportunity to travel to Canada. I set aside time to meet with Brother Frederick and was impressed with the relationship that Liberty for Youth and my son had developed. My son began attending school, working part-time, and volunteering in the community through the supervision of Liberty for Youth. I thank the Canadian communities for sustaining Liberty for Youth as it has made a positive difference in my son’s life and with continued support I know it will do the same for other young adults.
Thank you Liberty for Youth for giving my son a second chance.
Sincerely,

Valerie
